This is yoga adapted to address the specific needs of the individual, emphasizing appropriate breathing and function over form; and modifying breathing techniques, yoga postures, sequences, pranayama and meditation to address specific goals such as managing health conditions, relieving symptoms, and more fully realizing our innate sense of peace and joy. Viniyoga (prefixes vi and ni plus yoga) is a Sanskrit term that implies differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application. These teachings come to us from T.Krishnamacharya (1888-1989) and his son T.K.V.Desikachar (1938-2016).
